Something a little different this month for the concert of the month!
Many people are surprised to find out that Flamenco is not really a big deal here in Valencia. It’s more of an Andalusian thing so finding a place where you can listen to some outside of a few bars in the centre of town can be difficult. I listen to all kinds of things at home but Flamenco is not one of them so I do like to seek it out if it’s playing somewhere interesting in town.
Ubik Cafe, located in the heart of Russafa is one of our favourite places in Valencia for so many reasons. It is part bar, part book shop, part food destination, part cultural space but somehow it does all these things really well. They also hold regular concerts and despite the idea of a concert in a bookshop being a strange idea on paper, it’s a place that really comes alive when good music is played live.
On Sunday 14th January at 1:30PM Ubik Cafe will be hosting some classic Flamenco performed by three of Valencia’s most accomplished Flamenco performers. The event is free to get in and there is a great offer on Aperol Spritz. You will pay 50c extra each drink to help cover the cost of the concert and pay the artists but we find this is a small contribution to what is normally a wonderful few hours. Come down and check it out for yourself!
