Although not the biggest airport in Spain, Valencia airport still had over 8 million passengers in 2022. If you are planning a visit here is what you need to know.
If you are arriving in Valencia there is every chance that your time here will start at the airport. Valencia airport has had a lot of work done to it over the last few years and as a result it feels much more modern and inviting. Nevertheless, I’m certain that as soon as you touch down you will want to reach where you are staying as quickly and easily as possible.
Although it is located in the small municipality of Manises, 10K from central Valencia, the airport is well connected to the city and getting to the city from the airport or vice versa is straightforward. There are several different ways to do this and as always we have got you covered!
On this page we will cover your different options, the bus, the metro and a taxi.
Option 1 – The bus
The cheapest way to get to the city centre is on the bus. The line to the airport is the 150 ‘yellow’ bus
. The route takes in a few of the adjoining villages and will get you to the centre in around 40 mins.

If you are looking to save some money for something more interesting, the bus could be an excellent option
Tickets can be bought on the bus. At €1.45 for a single it is excellent value and by far the cheapest way to get into town. The bus service runs from 6:20 weekdays until 10:35 pm Monday -Thursday and 11:35pm on Friday. For more information visit here
The bus route ends by the central market in the centre of town. Do bear in mind that although the market is very central it is a little bit of a walk to a metro station if you are staying somewhere away from the city centre and you might want to get off earlier if you are planning to combine the bus with the metro. With a single ticket you will need to buy a separate ticket for the metro. If you plan to do this, make sure you get off the bus at either Avenida del Cid or Angel Guimera, both of which have metro stations.
Option 2 – The Metro
Another option is to take the metro. If you aren’t staying somewhere central but don’t want to shell out for a taxi this could be the best option. Valencia airport has its own metro station on the ground floor of the terminal building. If you have a lot of luggage, look for the set of lifts connecting the station to the rest of the airport.
Public transport has been heavily subsidised by the local and national governments over the last few years to help combat the cost of living crisis. Unfortunately this does not include the metro tickets to the airport which now cost €4.80. The airport is at the end of lines 3 and 5. Both go through the city centre with stops Xativa, Colon and Almeda the most central. Trains are fairly regular, every 15 mins on weekdays and every 20 mins on weekends.
Travelling in the week? These are the earliest and latest trains. Times on Fridays and weekends have a slight variance. If you need more information check out the full route timetables here
Earliest departure time | Latest departure time | |
Trains going to Valencia | 05:27 AM | 23:57 PM |
Trains going to the airport (From Colon station) | 05:29 AM | 23:29 PM |
Option 3 – Taxi
The quickest and most convenient way to get where you need to go is by taking a taxi. You can either use the taxies in the airport or by booking one using one of the taxi apps.
If you are in a hurry or travelling in a group you might want to consider a taxi. This is definitely the quickest way to get to the airport. While infamous taxi app Uber is currently not available within Valencia, taxi apps Cabify and Freenow are and both will get you to the city centre from the airport in around 20 mins.
There are of course traditional taxis waiting at the airport if you are less tech savvy but you might pay a premium. We recommend asking for a receipt of your journey just in case you have any problems but that being said, we never have. At the time of writing, expect to pay around €20 euros for a taxi to the city centre, more if you are going a little further.
Summary
There are plenty of options on how to get to Valencia from the airport. If you are based close to the central market or are on its route then the bus could be the best option. It’s certainly the cheapest. If you are located at another part of town then the metro might be the best option. If you are in a larger group or need to get there fast then the taxi service is quick, reliable and not overly expensive.
Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a forty foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
Hey there, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Opera, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, superb blog!
Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the problem fixed soon. Thanks
